IDST - record launch gig

Si Kaylor-Saxes, Simon Beddoe –Trumpet, Johnny Tomlinson - Piano, Nick Tyson- guitar, Seth Bennett- double bass, Tommy Evans - Drums

IDST ('If Destroyed Still True') took Seven Arts by storm in the spring of 2008 with their beautiful jazz compositions and thrilling improvisation sweeping melodies, unusual harmonic progressions and interesting rhythmic diversity. Winners of the Promoters Choice Award for that year (your vote!) they are returning to  Seven as part of a national tour with Serious Productions to prmote their debut album "Seven Dials".

Bringing together some of the most innovative, exceptional & contemporary musicians in the North, the band is led by Tommy Evans on drums & features 'Parliamentary Jazz Award' winner Nick Tyson on guitar, Simon Kaylor on sax, Simon Beddoe on Trumpet / Flugel, Johnny Tomlinson on piano and Seth Bennett on Double Bass. Whilst drawing upon influences from Avishai Cohen to Perfect Houseplants IDST have developed a truly orchestral style whilst retaining a focus on improvisation & musical communication. This has resulted in a coming together of jazz & folk in an idiosyncratically English fashion - sweeping melodies, unusual harmonic progression & complex rhythm keeping. IDST are gaining a large following which is set to grow even larger as the group have recently performed at the 2009 London Jazz Festival, and played a knockout set to kick off the 2009 Scarborough Jazz Festival.
