James Hamilton Jazz Orchestra

A welcome return visit from award winning composer James Hamilton who showcases his 19 piece Jazz Orchestra at Seven Arts on Thursday 17th November 8pm.

 

The music is  a contemporary big band sound with influences ranging from Duke Ellington to Kenny Wheeler. The Causeway Suite is a nostalgia filled musical tour of the picturesque Northern Ireland Country Antrim coastline.


James won the UK Contemporary Jazz Composition award in the British Composer Awards 2010 for "The Causeway Suite". He was nominated for the award by Martin Coultas on behalf of Jazz Yorkshire. James, who is an alumni of Leeds College of Music, was supported by Jazz Yorkshire when recording his composition at The Venue, Leeds Music College. The judges commented "This is so much more than skill and technique by a composer with energy and talent". James Hamilton also writes and plays trumpet for Leeds highly regarded based indie rock outfits Hope and Social.
