Programme changes

There have been few changes to our programme...

Firstly drummer Katie Patterson is stuck in Canada without a work permit to get into the UK. Her Sunday afternoon gig on 4th March 1-4pm with her "Steely Dan" big band won't now be happening (hopefully it will later in the year). Instead we are pleased to present the first appearance at Seven of the new Leeds Jazz Orchestra directed by Colin Byrne - should be fantastic.

Secondly as an addition to our jazz programme schedule we are pleased to announce the welcome return to Seven Jazz of America's best known jazz guitarists and Concord recording artist Howard Alden, in concert with New York jazz singer Jeanne Gies on Thursday 12th April at 8pm. Howard and Jeanne enchanted us with their appearance last year so we were really pleased to hear they were back in the UK again this Spring. We have the same fine musicians on bass and drums as well - Gary Jackson and Caroline Boaden. The picture from their 2012 concert is by Tom Swire

Finally Saxman Vincent Herring's UK tour has had to be cancelled in May. This means we are now instead able to present award winning saxman and DUNE recording artist Denys Baptiste with his quartet - with Denys on tenor/soprano saxes, Andrew McCormack piano, Gary Crosby, double bass, and Rod Youngs drums at Seven Arts on Thursday 17th May.

We originally intended to present this in the autumn as part of a joint promotion with Sheffield Jazz but in the end we couldn't fit it in to the Seven Arts schedule. The response to the gig in Sheffield was phenomenal - can't wait to see him here in Leeds
