THIS CONCERT IS NOW SOLD OUT

Darius Brubeck piano, Dave O’Higgins saxes, Matt Ridley bass, Wesley Gibbens drums

Son of the famous Dave Brubeck, Darius has developed his own reputation as a great, swinging pianist. Darius was ushered into the international jazz scene in the Seventies as a member of Two Generations of Brubeck and The New Brubeck Quartet (Dave, Darius, Chris and Dan Brubeck) under his father’s leadership. It represents a considerable coup for us to persuade Dave’s eldest son Darius Brubeck, a respected pianist and composer on his own account, to bring his quartet to Chapel A for a  headline concert. There will be a real sense of occasion about this keenly anticipated concert and the Brubeck Quartet that won’t disappoint for a mixture of Darius’ own highly credible original compositions and  classics from his late father’s pen.

Born in 1947 Darius Brubeck has been based in London since 2006 and has assembled an excellent band of musicians from the capital’s jazz scene including the experienced saxophonist Dave O’Higgins, rising star bassist Matt Ridley and the South African born drummer Wesley Gibbens. This line up has recorded two excellent albums, 2014’s “Cathy’s Summer” , dedicated to Brubeck’s wife and manager Catherine,  and the recent follow up “Years Ago” (2016).

The concert will include audience favourites, standard jazz and some ever-popular Dave Brubeck music plus new compositions and soulful renderings of ballads like "Flamingo" and "I don't stand a Ghost of a Chance with You".

Support from Alex Fisher trio with Leeds saxman Alex and Sam Williams on bass, Jordan Dinsdale drums
