Louise Gibbs Organix

Louise Gibbs (vocals), Martin Longhawn (organ), Eirik Svela (guitar), Tim Carter (drums)

Louise Gibbs is a singer, jazz improviser and composer. It has been said of her bebop-inspired style: "She can turn a hackneyed jazz standard into a newly-imagined composition...and takes musical risks...as expressive as any horn player whether the tune's by Kenny Wheeler or Rodgers & Hart".

The organ trio is a new venture and a new format for Louise's singing. With quite a bit of tongue and a lot of groove, Louise Gibbs Organix make their debut at Seven Arts on Sunday 15 July, 1.30-4.00.  The grooving organ quartet of Martin Longhawn (organ), Eirik Svela (guitar), Tim Carter (drums) and Louise Gibbs (vocals) features music by Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Betty Carter, Horace Silver through Stevie Wonder, connecting bebop with its soulful R&B roots.  “Swingin’ music with ass…”
