Jenny Smith Sextet

Bright young singer fronts a talented group playing arrangements of classic jazz standards, stylish soul ballads and funky blues tunes. Originally from Hull, where she sang and toured with the Hull Youth Jazz Orchestra, she moved to Leeds to study at the Leeds College of Music. In 2006 she won the Leeds College of Music prize for Jazz singing.

Her influences include Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day, Anita Wardell, Tina May and Carole King. She is currently performing all over the UK with a rich variety of ensembles which include the Jenny Smith Quintet, the all-girl a'cappella group Solaris, Al Morrison's Blues Experience, the Derrick Harris Organ Trio, and featured appearances with Brazilian Tombo Trio and the Grand Wazoo.

Aside from jazz, Jenny sings with the ‘Charity Dream Girls’ Motown soul show and her credits include touring with the theatre show Swing Fever, backing vocals for Juliet Roberts, Roachford and Marisa Turner and lead vocals with the Al Wood Big Band.
