Our Seven Jazz instrumental workshops began in January 2009, and continue to go  from strength to strength!  Our Spring 2012 series of workshops starts on Saturday 14 January.  The tutor for the first session will be Kim Macari, trumpet player & band leader.  Our other workshop leaders this spring will be Martin Townshend, Colin Byrne and James Hamilton.

All these workshops are at Seven Arts, 31A Harrogate Road, Leeds, LS7 3PD

PLEASE NOTE that occasionally a date may have to be changed (or there may be a slightly earlier start time) because of an evening event at Seven needing afternoon set-up time, so do check our website for up-to-date information.

   Sunday 1 April, Jazz Café (jam session), 1-4 pm

The workshops cost £10/£8 concessions.  Our regular tutors are Martin Townshend, sax player/educator/band leader, and Colin Byrne, drummer/educator/band leader.  We also have guest tutors – this term Kim Macari, trumpet player & band leader, and Matt Anderson, sax player & band leader.     

We usually work towards playing two or three numbers as part of our ‘Jazz Café’ on Sunday afternoon (see date above) – in a very enjoyable and supportive atmosphere!  Workshop members need to have some experience of playing (say a couple of years), and an interest in jazz, though not necessarily in playing it – just a willingness to have a go!  Some reading experience useful but not essential.

The first of the Chapel Allerton Jazz Choir sessions will be held in April 2012 (we hope it will be Sat 14 April tutored by singer Nickki Allan - watch this space!)
